Gratitude for the Reader

I returned to Western Iowa a few weeks ago and am finally feeling adjusted to the stationary life again. The four months previous were a whirlwind of travel and activity. In writing that, I realize I have neglected this blog, this creative outlet, this portal of communication with the world since December of 2017. So what up? I’m back and typing up some words. I saw an uncle of a friend while I was filing my van with gas the other day. I hadn’t seen him in a couple of years and it took me an extra moment to remember his name. Bill. What up Bill? He asked me about this here blog and told me he had enjoyed reading it and viewed it as a way to stay in touch in a one-sided sort of staying in touch. That is the reality I suppose. There are a lot of people that I’ve met along the way and many people who I’ve known who have enjoyed my stories. They told me so. They have asked where they’ve gone. The stories stopped because life got busy and I got lazy. No lazier than usual but busier than usual I guess. Discipline is not my strong suit but I am working on it. So my apologies. If you are kind enough to be interested in the life I live I want to be kind enough to keep you updated.

Here’s a poem I wrote after spending an hour swiping through ladies on my Bumble account. I habitually install the app and then delete it out of curiosity and desire every few weeks. I especially delete it in Iowa when I only see girls I already know and have no desire to be intimate with. If you don’t know Bumble it is like Tinder but different.

Bumbling

We swipe and swipe.

You quote the office.

I don’t care.

Love is lost in the midwest.

I’m bored.
