Righty ho!
I’ve begun writing a blog. Whooopity do! I’ve engaged in this endeavor because I want to create an outlet for my travels, subsequent experiences, and thoughts pertaining to those two things as well random tidbits here and there.
I recently moved from my home of four years; Durango, CO, back to Dunlap, IA the town where I grew up. I’ll be in Dunlap for just about three weeks before flying to San Jose, Costa Rica on the first of October to begin a Central America adventure themed in studying Spanish, volunteering here and there, kayaking whitewater, and surfing.
My inspiration for this adventure has been the pursuit of whitewater. In the summer of twenty14 I started kayaking regularly and began progressing in the sport. This summer, 2015, I got into it a little more and wanted to keep the momentum rolling so I can start firing it up in a big way on some of the more scary class V sections out there. So one day while perusing the interweb I found a ticket to San Jose one-way for just $218 which I just couldn’t pass up. Once the ticket was bought, I started planning the trip which has entailed finding a hostel to work at in Turrialba and not really planning, I like to wing it.
So with this post I’ve truly begun my adventure and you can turn to this page to stay updated on what I’ve been getting into down in the tropics.
